13 Truths *About YOU* That Will Change Everything in 2013!

Bob looks in the mirror

There’s one thing that limits most Christians, diminishing impact in the Kingdom of God – and in all of life. I’m not talking about the devil, or God holding you back to “teach” you something – even though those are real possibilities at times.

I’m talking about how you see yourself.

While the statement: “Those who think they can and those who think they can’t – are often both right,” has some truth to it — understanding your true identity goes immensely deeper than positive thinking.

Here are a few truths to quickly digest that should help. I created the following list in the first person so you can more easily internalize each one. Some are basic and obvious. Others may not be. Read over them a few times, perhaps “hovering” on ones that seem less familiar. If you really want full effect, say them out loud.

13 Truths About Me That Will Change Everything in 2013

1. God loves me very, very much, regardless of my performance

But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8

God offered his Son BEFORE you had made one single change in life. Don’t forget that!

2. I am made extremely well, with purpose & destiny

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Eph 2:10

God is your Maker; therefore you have been made well. It’s also clear that you have God-ordained purpose.

3. I have already been declared “not guilty”, made accepted by HIS grace

…to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Eph 1:6

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Heb. 9:28

It’s so easy to forget that Jesus was offered ONCE FOR ALL TIME which means that one act was sufficient for past, present and future. Christians who constantly live as if they are condemned for every mistake, as if they fall back and forth “out of favor” every time they make one false move, do not understand that they have ALREADY BEEN MADE ACCEPTED. (Yes confess sin and repent ongoing but do not fall apart and live intermittently condemned.)

4. Since my new birth I no longer major on my ineptitude and unworthiness

Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!  2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)

Unfortunately, many Preachers don’t have this right. You ain’t God and we know it. But especially once you’ve given your life to Him, you are not a worthless sinner scumbag either. You’ve been gloriously recreated in Christ and welcomed into God’s family. Don’t relate more to who you were than who you are. Don’t insult God’s work of redemption.

(That’s not humility anyway; humility is simply seeing yourself as God says you are, not higher, or differently.)

5. Because I am a Kingdom citizen, I am a change agent

Your kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Mt 6:10

You’re not a spectator or a part-timer; you’re not just waiting to get out of here. Can you think of any place on earth that doesn’t look like heaven? Heaven is touching earth through you. Something is coming from THERE to HERE. Affect your environment. Pray down heavenly resources to meet earth’s needs.

6. ** I live an integrated life

Wherever I go, there I am. Whether you know it or not, you are already a full-time “minister”! Forget the idea that what is traditionally considered church, missions and non-profit work is the only ministry going on. Whatever you do, do as unto the Lord. Obeying Him in any sphere is ministering. Be the same Kingdom change agent Monday through Sunday. You are no more a child of God on the weekend than any other day. Sunday Christianity is impossible and imaginary.

7. I am NOT a second class citizen in the Kingdom if I am not called to traditional pulpit ministry, full-time foreign missions, or non-profit work — and I don’t need to spend my life wishing I was.

The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. Ps 24:1

Every part of the world actually belongs to Him; every area of society. In fact, many of the greatest battles for human hearts on the planet are not fought in church but in otherspheres of influence. Would David have been a fulltime traditional pastor? How about Daniel or Ruth or Esther or Abraham?

8. I can accomplish truly great things – and it’s not wrong to dream about that

…the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. Dan 11:32

Jesus Himself said you would do great things. Aiming for, dreaming about – nothing – does not mean you are humble, it means you are needlessly operating below your God-given potential. God designed you to dream with Him. You just need to sort out which are the right kinds of dreams and God will be glad to help you.

9. With God’s help I am capable of sorting out the difference between an inspired dream and selfish ambition

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. Jn 10:27

Instead of shrinking back from all forms of achievement, as if achievement is unspiritual, turn your dreamer back on, WHILE spending time with God. Listen for His direction.

10. God likes working WITH me

Remember when God asked Adam to help Him name all the animals?! How silly. God created them. Why didn’t He just name them too? Psst! He’s not threatened by what you can do, he enjoys working together WITH you.

11. When I operate in the sphere which God has called me to, and do what He says, I carry special authority in that realm

“we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere, to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s sphere of accomplishment.”  2 Cor 10:16

Here Paul is describing working within his appointed sphere, not someone else’s, for accomplishment. It’s also true for you and I. There is an appointed realm where you are of greatest effect.

12 Jesus is writing an amazing story through – and with – me, by God’s Spirit!

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Cor. 3 :3

You’re like a letter from God, a love note, written by the power of the Spirit. Cooperate with Him. Yield to Him. Fellowship with Him. Your story is remarkable.

13. I am as bold as a lion

The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. Prov 28:1 NLT

There is no replacement for boldness. It can absolutely transform situations you are in. This year! You don’t need to wish for it, or attempt to muster it, because it already belongs to you. Get in touch with the boldness that is yours and learn to walk in it increasingly.
